Poached Pears in Fruit Wine
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup Vermont fruit wine
1 teaspoon cloves
Pears, peeled, halved, and cored
1/4 cup maple syrup
A few slices lemon or lime
Turn skillet heat on.
Toss in sugar, maple syrup, and wine. Stir. Add cloves and lime.
Put in the pears. Don't let the mixture boil. Cook gently until soft.
Put pears on plate and pour syrup from pan over pears.
Top with blackberry butter.
